While people may feel like this helps them somehow, my entire point is two-fold in that it does not help prevent theft and adds no real legal standing, but more importantly how it is viewed in the professional publishing world as a sign of being an inexperienced amateur. In a competitive field such as writing, you don’t need this unnecessary negative impression affecting your reputation out of the gate, you want to make a positive impression and let the work stand for itself.
