The Batman’s Blatant Propaganda
Certain messages of the film are too obvious to ignore
In the medium of film, it should be expected that an evolution of the art form is taking place before our very eyes, especially when we are repeatedly sold the same stories year after year. There’s no better example of this evolution than in Warner Brothers’ latest attempt at revitalizing one of their biggest cash cows with The Batman.
Being the 14th iteration of this media franchise, it comes as no surprise that the studio worked to insure it was improving upon the legacy of its predecessors in every way. These types of reboots are not always successful, and come with their own share of risks, especially in an era where the film industry has been suffering under a pandemic-stricken case of audience decline.
With The Batman, Matt Reeves and Warner Brothers have given us a movie that not only succeeds, but revitalizes a genre of film that seemed on the brink of over-saturation and stagnation. It truly is a phenomenal experience to behold, with a kind of searing intensity that just pours off the screen and works to thrilling effect. The Batman is an exhilarating work of art.
