It works because people are addicted to memes.
If anyone is free to criticize what someone else calls art, it is artists who also make the art that someone is claiming to create within their spaces.
If you want to engage with Kaur’s stuff, great. But let’s not confuse why. It requires zero thought or engagement. It’s like reading bumper stickers. You go, huh. And move on.
Poetry takes you further, it causes introspection and a mental catharsis. It makes the reader come away changed somehow instead of just reaffirming what was already there. At least, that’s what it should do.
