Yet another apology from yet another celebrity for online shenanigans

I remember when I was a kid, and I had been gifted my first Sony Walkman. This was before the advent of the Compact Disc, and records were still a thing. In fact, the first ever music I was ever given as a gift was vinyl, copies of Bon Jovi’s Slippery When Wet, and Whitesnake’s eponymous album, if you want to know how old I am. This was before the era of nostalgia as pop culture commodity. But, my Walkman used cassettes. Cassettes were the bomb.

Anyway, I’ll never forget having a copy of the Randy Travis cassette Always & Forever. I wore that tape out, man. And I loved blasting it loud in my headphones and singing along to the songs. Until one day my mom heard me singing along to “I Won’t Need You Anymore (Always and Forever)” and not bothering to self-censor out the word “hell” from the lyrics. Apparently a child of 6 shouldn’t be shouting the word “hell” all through the house at the top of his lungs. This was the first time I realized songs could contain “bad” words.

Last week Billie Eilish was forced to issue a public apology for a Tik Tok video she made several years ago. In the video she lip syncs to a song by Tyler the Creator called “Fish.” At the time the video was recorded she was only “13 or 14” and according to her
